PhD_By1The consortium of academic and expert institutions announces the third round of enrolment to the International PhD Programme for Belarus (social sciences and humanities).

Members of the Consortium:

Administration of the International PhD Programme for Belarus is carried out by the Institute of Political Studies Political Sphere.

The program operates on external basis. The candidates write their dissertations inside Belarus and defend them externally at the universities of Lithuania, Poland and other European countries as soon as dissertation is complete. A candidate may choose a university of defence according to his linguistic capabilities, dissertation theme and other factors.

The main academic partners of the programme are Vytautas Magnus University in Lithuania and Warsaw University in Poland.

The programme provides academic tuition, technical assistance and academic communication in the form of seminars, contact with foreign universities, advocacy of the interests of the author of dissertation, and payment of all fees (including honoraria to Belarusian and foreign tutors and defence fee. Paying the accommodation, travel, academic literature and some other expenses can also be considered).

The text of dissertation may be in English, Belarusian, Russian and Polish language. The choice of language depends on the academic discipline, dissertation theme and university of defence. The standard period of studying in the programs is three years. The period of study can be reduced or extended in individual cases.

Programme requirements:

  • Complete higher education (university diploma or Master degree).
  • Proficiency in Belarusian and Russian languages enough to understand lectures and write texts. Proficiency in English is preferable but not mandatory.
  • Academic, expert or analytical publications.

We accept applications in social sciences and humanities, except for law and psychology.

In your application, please attach 

  • CV with a photo, education, professional experience, publications and other relevant information
  • Motivation letter up to two pages
  • Brief outline of your dissertation study. Please specify the theme, problem description, research plan, and bibliography. The outline should not exceed 5 pages.

Deadline for application is 20 October 2013. Please, apply online to phd @ palityka.org.

Application results will be announced within a month after the deadline. 5 persons will be chosen for the study.
