Call for Proposals: The History of Economic Thought Under Communism (deadline – 31.12.2014)

Dec 18th, 2014 | By | Category: Journals & Publications

viennaWe cordially invite young researchers (up to 35 years of age) to submit research proposals to be presented at a project workshop on the history of economic thought under communism at the Institut für die Wissenschaften vom Menschen (IWM)/ Institute for Human Sciences in Vienna, Austria, in April 2015.

The Institute launched a major comparative research project on the history of economic thought under communism in April 2014. The project covers nine countries (Bulgaria, China, Czechoslovakia, GDR, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Soviet Union and Yugoslavia) on which sizeable national monographs will be prepared.

Our research project is not confined to the economic context of the evolution of economic ideas but also focuses on the political, social and cultural conditions of that evolution. We therefore welcome submissions of proposals from young scholars working in various fields of economics and history. The proposals may discuss both general (methodological) aspects of the history of economic thought under communism or selected authors, themes, countries or periods.

Deadline for submission: December 31, 2014

A jury consisting of principal researchers of the project will select the best proposals by January 31, 2015. Upon successful presentation at the workshop, the authors may be invited to join one of the national research teams.

Please send your proposals (no more than 2000 words) as well as your CV and list of publications to the project coordinator, Christina Pössel (poessel@iwm.at).
